About Bucharest
[Boo`koo`reshtie]
Bucharest is the capital city and industrial and commercial centre of Romania. It is located in the southeast of the country and lies on the banks of the Dambovita River. It was originally known as Dambovita citadel. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of the "Paris of the East" or "Little Paris".

This beautiful Botanical Garden has been established under Al. I. Cuza in 19th century on a 17 ha field, but it has been moved in 1870 in Sutu Garden. Dr. Dimitrie Brandza did move the garden back to its original place in 1884. The graden has a museum, an ornamental sector (plants from the Extrem Orient and North America), a dendrologic sector (having plants over 100-150 years old), mediterranean flora, medicinal and technical plants, mountain vegetation, tropical plants. Greenhouses contain tropical and subtropical flora from Africa, India, Indonezia, South America. Make sure you don't miss this beautiful spot in Bucharest.
